Market for buying and selling energy in the ‘short term’. The price changes for each day -and in electricity for each hour-. It is usually the most efficient market and where you can get better prices. However, it is also the most volatile market, where the risk of prices rising or falling sharply is greater.
Normally, the most common products are ‘Day-Ahead’ (purchase/sale of energy for the following day) and ‘IntraDay’ (purchase and sale of energy on the same day).
For ELECTRICITY, energy is bought and sold for each hour of the day. For GAS, energy is bought and sold for each ‘day of gas’.
